Les compagnies d’assurance, les pompiers et d’autres organismes de r\u00e9glementation ont r\u00e9cemment commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 exiger que les fluides caloporteurs soient utilis\u00e9s en dessous de leur point d’\u00e9clair.<\/p>\n

Bien que cela puisse certainement ajouter une mesure de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 \u00e0 un syst\u00e8me de transfert de chaleur, cela a souvent mis les fabricants dans une situation difficile, les obligeant \u00e0 r\u00e9duire leurs temp\u00e9ratures de fonctionnement, \u00e0 trouver un fluide \u00e0 point d’\u00e9clair plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 ou \u00e0 cesser compl\u00e8tement leur activit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Atwood Pet Foods, l’une des plus grandes entreprises canadiennes de transformation des animaux morts, en a ressenti les effets directement en 2006. L’Office des normes techniques et de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de l’Ontario (TSSA) a exig\u00e9 que les cuiseurs \u00e0 lots import\u00e9s utilisent un fluide dont le point d’\u00e9clair soit inf\u00e9rieur de 50 \u00b0F \u00e0 sa temp\u00e9rature d’inflammation. Cela signifiait que le fluide devait avoir un point d’\u00e9clair sup\u00e9rieur \u00e0 500 \u00b0F (260 \u00b0C). <\/p>\n

Confront\u00e9 \u00e0 une mise \u00e0 niveau ou au remplacement co\u00fbteux de ses \u00e9quipements, Ken Maltby, d’Atwood, s’est rapidement rendu compte qu’il ne serait pas facile de trouver un fluide thermique \u00e0 point d’\u00e9clair \u00e9lev\u00e9 adapt\u00e9.<\/p>\n

\u00ab J’ai contact\u00e9 pratiquement tous les fournisseurs de fluides thermiques que j’ai pu trouver, mais ce n’est qu’apr\u00e8s avoir appel\u00e9 Duratherm que j’ai trouv\u00e9 un fluide adapt\u00e9 avec un point d’\u00e9clair suffisamment \u00e9lev\u00e9 \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Maltby.<\/p>\n

Duratherm disposait non seulement du fluide ad\u00e9quat, mais proposait \u00e9galement \u00e0 Atwood un choix de fluides dont les points d’\u00e9clair correspondaient \u00e0 ses besoins. Apr\u00e8s une \u00e9valuation technique approfondie, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9termin\u00e9 que le Duratherm G<\/a>, l’un des fluides hautement r\u00e9sistants \u00e0 l’oxydation de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9, serait le mieux adapt\u00e9. <\/p>\n

Michael Bates, directeur technique chez Duratherm, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 : \u00ab Avec trois fluides dont le point d’\u00e9clair est sup\u00e9rieur \u00e0 500 \u00b0F, et un dont le point d’\u00e9clair atteint 615 \u00b0F, nous sommes en mesure d’offrir \u00e0 nos clients non seulement un fluide \u00e0 point d’\u00e9clair \u00e9lev\u00e9, mais \u00e9galement un fluide qui r\u00e9pond \u00e0 d’autres crit\u00e8res importants tels que la compatibilit\u00e9 avec les syst\u00e8mes, l’ad\u00e9quation et la stabilit\u00e9 thermique ou \u00e0 l’oxydation<\/span>. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Depuis 2006, Atwood a ajout\u00e9 trois cuiseurs suppl\u00e9mentaires \u00e0 son usine d’Atwood, en Ontario. L’entreprise est actuellement engag\u00e9e dans son projet le plus ambitieux, qui consiste \u00e0 construire un syst\u00e8me de gaz\u00e9ification pour d\u00e9truire les prot\u00e9ines de b\u0153uf contamin\u00e9es. Elle r\u00e9cup\u00e9rera l’\u00e9nergie produite par ce processus pour chauffer le fluide thermique Duratherm, qui alimentera son processus d’\u00e9quarrissage. <\/p>\n
